Fifty-five Indian fishermen were apprehended and their 10 boats seized by Pakistan authorities near international maritime border line off Kutch coast in Gujarat on Wednesday, according to Porbandar-based National Fishworkers' Forum.
Twenty three Indian fishermen were arrested by the Pakistan Marine Security Agency for allegedly encroaching into Pakistani waters, the National Fishworkers' Forum claimed on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday, when the fishermen, who belong to Porbander, had gone on a fishing expedition near the Indo-Pak marine border, said NFF secretary Manish Lodhari.
"The PMSA arrested 18 Indian fishermen and seized their four boats on Sunday from the Jakhau region near IMB where they were on a fishing expedition," NFF secretary for Gujarat, Manish Lodhari told PTI.
Pakistan Maritime Security Agency on Saturday apprehended 18 fishermen from Gujarat along with their three boats near Jakhau port off the state coast, an office-bearer of a fishermen association claimed.
11 fishermen who were on board the Pakistani boat have been detained.
This is the biggest and the fourth major incident of apprehending Indian fishermen by the PMSA since January this year.
With this, the total number of Indian fishermen apprehended by PMSA in the last 48 hours has gone up to 88.
